The Spot
Park Cafe has anchored Sylvan Park for 25 years, operating out of an old house with a greenhouse-style dining room, a lounge, and outdoor seating. The place hasn't changed much over the decades beyond a few interior updates, and it still leans on the kind of lunch menu regulars build routines around — soup and salad, and a fried green tomato BLT that keeps its following.

Larger plates take some chances: a pork chop arrives over homemade five-spice applesauce slathered in Chinese mustard, an unlikely combination that holds together. Dessert is the crème brûlée napoleon, layers of set custard between ultra-thin, crispy almond phyllo, and it's become the dish people mention first.

Service is consistently singled out as a strength of the experience. Nashville Guru named Park Cafe among the city's best.
