The Spot
888 sits on the corner of 8th Ave South, attached to the JW Marriott downtown, and operates two distinct culinary programs at one table. The Edomae sushi counter is helmed by Master Sushi Chef Kiichi Okabe, working seasonal fish into hand-shaped nigiri off a rice program refined over decades. Kiichi's Kounter offers reserved seating directly in front of him for those who want the closest view of the work.

The kitchen side, led by Executive Chef Alfredo Bueno, moves beyond the counter into donabe, wagyu, tempura, and composed seasonal plates meant for sharing. The two programs keep their own voice — the counter sets the tone, the kitchen sets the pace.

The room is built around a hi-fi listening system designed by Steven Durr, Soundlux Audio, and Devon Turnbull of OJAS, with more than 2,000 vinyl records lining the walls, grounded in soul, funk, and jazz. 888 was named a 2025 favorite by Nashville Lifestyles.

“Too many good spots in Nashville to give it a second shot. Service was bad, food wasn't good, and it was way too expensive for allthat.”
