Milly's Empanada Factory traces back to Millincett "Milly" Martinez, who began hand-making empanadas after arriving from Venezuela in 1995, working in the same style found in home kitchens across the country. What started as empanadas sold through local bakery counters and cafécito windows grew into its own storefront in West Kendall, with empanadas still fried to order out of a rear-shop factory.
The menu covers Venezuelan staples — corn empanadas, arepas, and cachapas — alongside the El Yoyo, a plantain-based dish built around the same dough-and-filling approach as the empanadas.
The room leans playful: an empanada-shaped mirror near the bathrooms, dark blue walls, and a mural depicting travelers stumbling onto the restaurant like a roadside find. It's a casual, counter-driven spot built for quick visits rather than a long sit-down.
