The Antler Room is a neighborhood restaurant in Kansas City's Longfellow area, owned and operated by Leslie and Nick Goellner. Nick cooked at the French Culinary Institute, staged across Europe, and worked under French chef Alain Allegretti in New York, as sous chef at Boulevard in San Francisco, and at Noma in Copenhagen before returning home to open this restaurant with Leslie. Leslie's own background runs through Room 39 in Kansas City, stints with Danny Meyer's restaurants in New York, and management roles with the Delfina Restaurant Group in San Francisco. Kyle Sears serves as Chef de Cuisine.
Menus change daily, shaped by seasonal ingredients, specific preparations the kitchen wants to work through, or ideas drawn from travel. The restaurant describes its only fixed rule for what gets served as simple: it has to be delicious. The space is built to flex — a bite and a glass of wine at the bar, a full dinner, or a celebration.
Nick Goellner has been named a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Best Chef: Midwest three times, in 2019, 2020, and 2023.
