Fritz's Railroad Restaurant has been feeding Kansas City families since 1954, with a Crown Center location bringing the concept downtown. Orders go in by phone, and instead of a server walking it over, the food comes down the line on an overhead train that runs the length of the dining room.

The menu runs on diner staples — hamburgers, fries, hash browns, and chili are the dishes regulars come back for, even as the train itself is the main event for first-timers.

The Brazen Gourmets named Fritz's among Kansas City's best, and the restaurant remains a draw for families, with kids in particular locked onto the train delivery cars lowering plates to the tables below.
