The Spot
El Taco De Mexico has served Mexican street food in Denver's Lincoln Park neighborhood since November 1985, founded by Felipe Juarez and MaLuisa Zanabria, who built the menu on recipes MaLuisa developed with her mother in Mexico City. The lineup runs through the standards of Mexican street food — tacos, burritos, enchiladas, sopes, chile rellenos, tamales, tortas, and tostadas — with the green chile standing out as the dish most closely tied to the restaurant's identity.

Four decades in the same location have made it a known name in Denver's Mexican food scene. The James Beard Foundation named it an America's Classics winner in 2020, an award given to restaurants with timeless appeal that reflect their communities. Westword included it among the city's best in 2025.
