The StopAlong opened in Bucktown in August 2016 as a throwback neighborhood pizzeria and bar just steps from the 606 trail, run by owner Taylor Hammond. The space is dressed in '80s and '90s pop culture — arcade cabinets like Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, and Super Mario Bros in a back game room, retro toys, lunch boxes, and action figures scattered throughout, and comic-book-style artwork featuring characters like Superman and Darth Vader on the walls.
The menu centers on New York-style thin-crust pizza, available build-your-own or off the list. The Stop-In burger has built its own following: modeled on In-N-Out's double-double animal-style, it's made with smashed griddled patties, mustard-cooked on the flattop, caramelized onions, pickles, and a creamy dressing on a brioche bun. A full bar rounds things out with craft beer, wine, and cocktails.
