Tango Sur brings Argentine parrilla cooking to a Southport Avenue storefront in Wrigleyville, founded by Sergio Di Sapio. The kitchen runs a wood-fired grill through cuts like asado de tira, entraña, and churrasco, along with the parrillada para dos — a mixed grill of short ribs, flap meat, sausage, sweetbreads, and blood sausage. Everything off the parrilla comes with a housemade chimichurri built on herbs and garlic rather than chili.
Beyond the grill, the menu reflects Argentina's Mediterranean and Italian influences: empanadas in fillings like beef, chicken, corn, and spinach and cheese; milanesa napolitana; and handmade pastas including ravioli and ñoquis with a choice of tomato or white wine cream sauce. Provoleta, lengua a la vinagreta, and matambre round out the starters.
The room is candlelit and intimate, and the restaurant is BYOB. It's built a following for excellent steaks, exceptional chimichurri and empanadas, and welcoming service, and The Infatuation gave it an 8/10.
