Kasia's Deli traces back to 1982, when Kazimiera Bober — known to everyone as "Kasia" — opened the shop after years working multiple jobs to support herself as a single mother who'd immigrated to the U.S. without speaking English. She cooked at night and ran the counter by day, building the menu on traditional family recipes made from scratch with no shortcuts.
Pierogi are the reason people come, made fresh daily and available in a range of fillings that have built a loyal following willing to travel across the city for them. The space itself is small and takeout-focused, more counter than dining room, so the food is the point rather than the setting.
Kasia's remains a family-run operation in West Town, still working from the same recipes and old-world approach Kasia established when she first opened the doors.
