Rudy Royale occupies a large space on East Bay Street in Charleston's French Quarter, open since June 2021 in a building past guests may remember as Wet Willie's or Paw Paws. The room is built for a fun, funky atmosphere, and the concept runs under the banner "Chicken + Cocktails," centered on a live-fire grill.
Partner and chef Macready Downer leads the kitchen, known for its fried chicken and for putting contemporary spins on classic Southern cuisine. The menu draws on Lowcountry staples — chicken and dumplings, cornbread, deviled eggs, oysters, brussels sprouts, mac and cheese, a cucumber salad, and french fries among them.
