Taquero Mucho sits on West Sixth Street in Downtown Austin, founded by Gabriela Bucio after noticing that her regulars at another Austin restaurant she ran were overwhelmingly women. She built this taqueria around that realization — a space dedicated to celebrating women, done up in bright pink from the walls to the drink menu. Bucio identifies as the only Latina owner on the strip and has centered the concept on preserving her heritage while creating a spot aimed squarely at women of all backgrounds.
The menu runs on tacos and margaritas, with the pink palette carrying through to the food and drinks themselves. The Anti-Bitch Juice has become something of a calling card here. A second location has since opened on Burnet Road.
Regulars point to the vibrant, heavily Instagrammed decor and friendly service as the draw, alongside consistently flavorful food — though some mention parking costs and minor upkeep issues around the space.
