The Spot
Soupleaf Hot Pot is a family operation. Jin learned to cook in her hometown in rural China, and after the restaurant she and her family grew up around closed during the pandemic, she and her sons Nelson and Nick opened this spot in Austin's Highland neighborhood. The broths are built from fresh bones, cooked low and slow in the same style Jin used at home.

The format is all-you-can-eat, Canton-style hot pot: diners build their own pots from a buffet of meats and fresh ingredients. Regulars point to the quality of the meat and the range on offer, along with service that's been consistently described as attentive and a good value for the price.

The Infatuation has covered Soupleaf as part of its Austin coverage.
