The Spot
Mama Betty's takes its name from Betty Carrier, a single mother who raised three sons while running Mexican restaurants in Houston. The Burnet Rd location, part of Carrier5 Hospitality's small Austin footprint, carries her name as a tribute to that story.

Fajitas and margaritas anchor the menu — the MamaRita, made with Tajín, is a recurring bar order. Beyond that, the kitchen turns out Carne Asada Fries loaded with queso and cotija, Kirstin's Crispy Chicken Tacos finished with jalapeño crema, the Enchiladas Morocco (a vegetarian plate built on butternut squash and red pepper crema), the Pechuga Navigation with homemade gravy, and a Snapper Vera Cruz served over cilantro lime rice.

Regulars describe a relaxed, family-friendly room and single out the atmosphere and certain dishes as standouts, even as reports on food consistency, portion size, and service speed vary from visit to visit.
