Our Take

Lutie's sits on the grounds of the Commodore Perry Estate, and it uses that setting for everything it's worth. The patio looks out over a hedge garden built around a fountain, and the dining room itself feels swallowed by vines and hanging greenery, more conservatory than restaurant. It would be easy for a place like this to coast on the theater of it, to let the linen and the floppy hats do the work while the kitchen phones it in.

That's not what happens here. The setting is the invitation, not the argument — the Southern cooking has to hold its own against a room built to upstage it, and it does. This is a restaurant confident enough in its food to put it inside a garden party and let it compete.

Back-to-back Michelin selections aren't decoration on a menu like this — they're confirmation of a kitchen that treats the spectacle as a stage, not a crutch. Lutie's earns the setting it was handed. Go for the garden. Stay for the fact that the food actually matches it.

The Spot
Lutie's occupies the restaurant space at Commodore Perry Estate, an Auberge Resorts property tucked into formal gardens in Austin's Hancock neighborhood. The name and concept nod to estate matriarch Lutie Perry, known for her lavish Jazz Age gatherings, a spirit designer Ken Fulk carried into his reworking of the room.

The menu runs on familiar regional cuisine, served family-style alongside craft cocktails, with the space built to work for an intimate date or a larger group. Bread service and dishes finished with brown butter have drawn particular notice from regulars.

Lutie's has been Michelin Selected in both the 2024 and 2025 guides and was named among Austin's best restaurants in 2025 by A Taste of Koko.
