Our Take

Banshee takes a neighborhood built on casual dinner options and does the opposite of blending in. The room mixes eras on purpose — a jumble of vintage light fixtures, dark blue velvet drapes splitting the dining room from a bird-wallpapered bar — and somehow reads as confident rather than cluttered. It's dressed up enough for a celebration, loose enough to keep the East Atlanta Village edge intact.

The kitchen backs up the swagger. The pepperoni butter earned its reputation honestly, the kind of dish people take home in tubs rather than let go. Around it, seasonal ingredients get pushed further than the neighborhood's other options bother to try, and the plates keep landing on the right side of that risk instead of the wrong one.

The recognition followed the food rather than the other way around: a Michelin Bib Gourmand, a Michelin selection the following year, a James Beard semifinalist nod for the cooking talent in the kitchen, a spot on a national year-end list. None of it reads as the point. It reads as confirmation of what the room was already arguing — that a bar and grill can also be the best seat in the neighborhood for a night that matters.

The Spot
Banshee is a restaurant and bar in East Atlanta Village, opened by partners Peter Chvala, Nolan Wynn, Katie McDonald, and Faielle Bolzan Stocco with the idea of putting upscale food and drink into a relaxed, casual setting. Executive Chef Nolan Wynn, also a co-founder, runs a kitchen built around seasonal New American cooking.

The bar is cocktail-driven, backed by a small curated selection of local beers and an eclectic wine list. On Friday and Saturday nights, it stays open late and shifts into a music venue after dinner service.

Wynn was named a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Rising Star Chef of the Year in 2019. Michelin gave Banshee a Bib Gourmand in 2024 and carried the restaurant into its 2025 guide as a Selected entry.
