The Spot
Metropolitan Grill has occupied the historic Marion Building at Second Avenue and Marion Street since 1983, one of downtown Seattle's longstanding steakhouses. The kitchen centers on USDA Prime beef — the top grade, held by less than 2% of beef produced in the US — hand-selected from Double R Ranch, custom dry-aged, and finished with a proprietary seasoning blend. Japanese A-5 Wagyu rounds out the beef program. Chateaubriand, the wedge salad, baked potato, and desserts like bananas foster and layer chocolate cake are among the dishes regulars return for.

The wine list is a genuine draw here: The Met has received Wine Spectator's Grand Award for nine consecutive years, a distinction held by only 99 restaurants worldwide. In Washington state, Canlis is the only other restaurant to hold it.

Beyond the main dining room, The Met runs private dining across four spaces, including a wine cellar, for groups up to 75. The crowd is a mix of downtown regulars, business diners, and travelers passing through, including cruise passengers, drawn by a polished, classic steakhouse setting and service that guests consistently single out.
