The Spot
Sherpa House brings Himalayan cuisine to San Francisco's Parkside neighborhood, blending Nepalese, Tibetan, and Indian flavors in a casual dine-in and delivery setting. Chef Nawang Sherpa, who has worked in the food industry for nearly 30 years, oversees a menu that draws on Himalayan tradition, tracing it back to cooking comfort food for mountaineers near Everest.

The kitchen makes its dough and curry sauces from scratch in house, sourcing ingredients in small batches from local suppliers. Clay-oven dishes include the Bhanta Dip (roasted eggplant in a light coconut sauce with garlic basil bread), Kukhurako Ledo (clay-oven chicken breast in a creamy onion-tomato sauce), and Chicken Makhamali (slow-cooked organic chicken in a tomato sauce finished with house-made ghee). The Momo Platter — hand-made Nepalese dumplings filled with vegetable, chicken, or pork — is a frequent table order, alongside clay-oven Pork Ribs finished with house spices and barbecue sauce.

Regulars come back for sizzling platters of well-charred chicken and hearty curries, including a squash-based kukhura pharsi, along with garlic fries served with a tikka dipping sauce. The restaurant has a reputation for warm, attentive service and a calm, welcoming atmosphere that keeps diners coming back.
