The Spot
Plumeria Vegetarian Restaurant serves Thai food built entirely from vegetarian and vegan versions of familiar staples, on Park Blvd in University Heights. The larb section swaps in crispy minced "duck" (a vegan preparation), organic tofu, or mixed beans in place of traditional protein, served with sticky rice or lettuce wraps. The same approach carries through the rest of the menu: chicken satay made with marinated vegan chicken, tuna flower cups and tuna salad rolls using plant-based tuna, and crispy tofu tamarind, which the restaurant calls a family favorite.

Soups and salads round things out — tom yum, tom kah, and a house Zen soup alongside somtom (green papaya salad) and a coconut crispy rice salad built from fried rice, fresh herbs, and vegan soy chicken.

San Diego Magazine named Plumeria to its Best of 2025 list.
