Grand Ole BBQ y Asado's North Park location is the original of what has grown into a small San Diego barbecue operation, since joined by a second spot in Flinn Springs and a stand inside Petco Park. The kitchen runs on Central Texas-style wood smoke, turning out brisket, ribs, and house-made sausages.
Sides get their own attention here, particularly potato salad and slaw, dishes that come up again and again in what people order. Much of it plays out on the North Park patio, giving the place a casual, come-as-you-are feel.
