Sherman's Deli & Bakery has been a fixture in Palm Springs since 1963, a New York-style family restaurant still owned and operated by Sherman Harris' son Sam and daughter Janet. Bread and desserts are baked fresh daily, and the menu runs breakfast through dinner in classic deli fashion.
The Famous Sandwich Board offers more than 40 options, including Hot Corned Beef piled on rye with a choice of potato salad or coleslaw. Deluxe dinners include Rotisserie Chicken, Roast Brisket of Beef with potato pancake, and BBQ Baby Back Ribs, each served with a choice of soup or salad, a starch, and mixed vegetables. Breakfast features cinnamon bread French toast made from the bakery's own loaves alongside large omelets and other diner staples. A Southern-style fried chicken runs as a recurring daily special.
Guy Fieri filmed an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives here, drawn to recipes that have stayed on the menu since the restaurant opened. Sherman's also bottles its own Smokey & Tangy BBQ sauce, sold at both its Palm Springs and Palm Desert locations.
