Bacchanal began as a small wine shop on the edge of the Bywater before growing into the backyard wine-and-dinner destination it is today. The shop side remains central: hundreds of bottles sourced from around the world, with staff on hand to help guide the selection.
The courtyard is where the experience opens up, with open-air dining and live original jazz. The Treehouse Bar runs alongside it, pouring original craft cocktails and wine by the glass for anyone settling in rather than shopping. The whole operation is 21-and-up only.
Bacchanal's wine program was a James Beard Foundation finalist for Outstanding Wine Program in 2018, 2019, and 2020, following a semifinalist nod in 2017. The restaurant also holds a spot on Eater's Essential 38 and made NOLA.com's Where NOLA Eats best-of list for 2025.
