IT'Z A Philly Thing started in 2018 as Nashville's first Philly cheesesteak food truck, founded by Zyhir Baker-Elam, a Philadelphia native who brought his hometown's food with him. In 2020 the operation expanded into a brick-and-mortar location in Bellevue, and the food truck still runs alongside it.
The menu centers on the Original Philly Cheesesteak — thinly sliced rib eye on a 10-inch Philly Amoroso roll with onions and Cheeze Wiz — along with a Chicken Cheesesteak version. Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, stuffed with meat, Cheeze Wiz, and provolone, are a popular offshoot of the same flavors in handheld form. Philly Italian water ice, served in a few sizes, rounds out the menu as the house dessert. Ingredients are locally sourced.
