Daily Bread has operated as a restaurant and marketplace in Pinecrest since 1978, run by the same family the whole way through. The dual identity is the point: one side is a fast-casual kitchen turning out Middle Eastern platters, the other a grocery stocked with goods from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Greece, and Israel.
The menu runs through gyro and kabob platters, kafta, shawarma, lamb shank, and kibbie, each served with a choice of sides, pita, and sauce, alongside sandwiches, rice bowls, loaded fries, and salads. The kibbeh platter paired with labneh and hummus has built a following, as has the falafel sandwich.
The dining room's red leather booths fill at lunch with a mix of elderly couples and high schoolers, drawn as much by the food as by the market itself — shelves of cardamom-infused coffees and teas, canned dolmadakia, multiple brands of labneh, and Turkish delights line the walk to the register.
