Chefs on the Run Gastro Pub opened in 2011 in Homestead, led by Chef Jodrick Ujaque and run as a family operation. The restaurant leans on Puerto Rican roots filtered through a gastropub lens, mixing Caribbean staples with American comfort food.
Mofongo is the anchor of the menu, served with arroz con gandules, pickled red onions, and a bone broth meant for dunking the garlicky plantain mash — available with pork, chicken, steak, or shrimp. A separate section of the menu is dedicated to burgers, with a dozen variations alongside dishes like mac and cheese, pork belly, and CariBowls.
The space itself is small, with just a handful of indoor tables and additional patio seating out back.
