The Spot
Stroud's Oak Ridge Manor operates out of an expanded 1829 log cabin and farmhouse in North Kansas City, billed as one of the last traditional fried chicken restaurants of its kind still standing. Family-style service and generous portions built around fried chicken, pan gravy, and cinnamon rolls have kept multiple generations of Kansas City families coming back.

The grounds carry the historical character of the original farmhouse, giving the setting as much presence as the food. Opinions on the cooking itself run divided among regulars, even as the tradition and atmosphere keep pulling people back.

The James Beard Foundation recognized Stroud's with an America's Classics award in 1998, honoring it as a longstanding regional institution with a loyal following.
