Our Take

Le Jardinier serves French vegetable-forward cooking inside the Museum of Fine Arts' Kinder Building, and the setting is doing less work than you'd assume: Felipe Botero's kitchen earned Houston's attention on the plates — seasonal, garden-rooted French cooking with an exactness the room's architecture merely matches.

The star arrived with Texas' first Michelin guide, and the beverage program has drawn Beard attention of its own. Museum restaurants are usually amenities. This one is a destination that happens to share a door with the art.

The Spot
Le Jardinier occupies the west side of the Kinder Building at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. The concept was created by chef Alain Verzeroli and The Bastion Collection, a hospitality group with sister Le Jardinier locations in Miami, New York, and Geneva.

In Houston, Executive Chef Felipe Botero and Pastry Chef Tiffani Ann Gkaris lead the kitchen, building seasonal French menus rooted in classical technique and centered on seasonality and vegetable-forward plates.

Michelin awarded Le Jardinier one star in the 2025 guide, and the restaurant was named a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Outstanding Professional in Beverage Service in 2025. It has also appeared on Eater's Eater 38 list and Houstonia Magazine's 2025 best-of roundup.

Diners describe polished plating and service suited to the museum setting, and the room has developed a reputation as a special-occasion destination.
