Home Slice Pizza started in Austin in November 2005, built by married couple Jen and Joseph Strickland alongside partner Terri Hannifin Buis around a straightforward idea: authentic NY-style pizza, no compromise. After expanding within Austin over the following years, the concept made its first move outside the city when it opened in Houston's Midtown neighborhood in December 2022.
The pizza follows the NY-style playbook — a crisp, stone-baked crust, slices large enough to fold in half, and toppings pulled from classic Italian-American traditions rather than novelty combinations. Pies are homemade and hand tossed, available whole or by the slice, for either dine-in or carry-out.
The Midtown spot has settled in as a late-night option for a quick slice, though the slice selection itself stays limited rather than sprawling, and street parking in the area can be tight.
