Asia Market Thai Lao Food pairs a Southeast Asian grocery store with a Thai and Lao kitchen in Houston's Northside. The space has operated at this location since 1987, first as a convenience store under earlier owners before adding prepared food over time. Chomsy Saysane, born in Laos and raised in Thailand, took over the business in 2015; she and her family previously ran Thai Choice on Westheimer near Wilcrest, and her kitchen staff now includes her own children and grandchildren.

The menu leans into dishes not always easy to find around the city: Pad Kee Mao, Pad Prik Khing, Som Tum in both Lao and Thai styles, Pad Kra Pow, Pad See Ew and Pad Thai, curry fried rice, Larb, Kao Nam Tod, satay and spring rolls, and curries including Massaman and green.

The front-of-house grocery stocks hard-to-find ingredients, some imported directly from Thailand, alongside the restaurant's carry-out counter. It's BYOB with no corking fee. The Infatuation scored it 8.5/10.
