The Spot
Herand's Kitchen runs on counter service built around a fully open kitchen — nothing happens behind closed doors. Guests watch kabobs get skewered and salads and wraps assembled to order, with everything made fresh daily. The menu blends Persian and Mediterranean cooking, a mix chef and owner Herand Tahmasian traces to his own background: Persian spices from his birthplace in Iran layered with the Armenian traditions of his family.

Tahmasian opened his first restaurant in Glendale, California in 2021 before relocating to Houston in 2024, converting a historic former post office building into the current space. Beer and wine are available alongside the food, and there's a patio for slower meals. The restaurant also serves organic Armenian coffee through a partnership with Henry's House of Coffee.

Regulars point to Tahmasian's hands-on presence as much as the food itself, describing a spot that feels personal, welcoming, and consistent.
