Mudgie's has been a fixture in Corktown since Greg Mudge founded it in 2008, pairing a scratch-made sandwich counter with a working wine shop. The deli side turns out stacked sandwiches — corned beef and potato salad come up often among regulars, alongside french fries and other house-made sides — plus vegan options and gluten-free bread.
The wine shop function is real, not decorative: bottles to go, wines by the glass, craft beer, cider, and seasonal cocktails round out the drink side. Two outdoor patios give the place its social center when weather allows, and catering has become a steady part of the business for office lunches and group gatherings.
Mudgie's was named a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Hospitality award in 2022.
