The Spot
Frasca takes its name from the frasca, a Friulian tradition of informal neighborhood gathering spots historically marked by a tree branch over the doorway, where farmers and families shared food and wine until the season's harvest ended. The restaurant carries that idea into Boulder, built around a tasting-menu format — the Quattro Piatti and Friulano menus — under partners Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson and Bobby Stuckey, with Ian Palazzola running the kitchen as executive chef.

The Quattro Piatti menu moves through courses like red sea bream with cantaloupe and prosecco, chanterelle risotto with orange wine, gnocchi with rabbit sausage, grilled swordfish with mussel saor, and Liberty Farms duck with summer corn, with an A5 Miyazaki wagyu supplement and a plum panna cotta to close. Sourcing runs through named farms and producers — Anson Mills polenta, Palisade peaches, Point Reyes Blue cheese among them.

Michelin awarded Frasca one star in 2025. The restaurant's history with the James Beard Foundation runs deep: Mackinnon-Patterson won Best Chef Southwest in 2008 after an earlier Rising Star finalist nod, the wine program won Outstanding Wine Program in 2013 following three finalist years, the restaurant won Outstanding Service in 2019, and it was named an Outstanding Restaurant finalist four times between 2016 and 2020. Westword named it one of Denver's best restaurants in 2025, and it has been counted among the country's most essential restaurants in national coverage.
