Milagro Taco Cantina traces back to Tacos Mariachi, the Tijuana/Baja-inspired seafood taco concept chef Jesús Carmona opened in West Dallas in 2015 and later expanded to Lower Greenville. Both locations closed during the pandemic. Carmona reopened in July 2021 near the original Mariachi site, across from Trinity Groves, under a new name: Milagro, Spanish for "miracle," a reference to both his own recovery and the restaurant's second life.
The menu pairs Carmona's classical French training with Tijuana-style street food — birria, al pastor, carne asada, fish tacos, and breakfast tacos alongside queso, fajitas, elote, and margaritas. The restaurant recently shifted from counter service to a full-service format with a bar, adding shareable plates like queso birria empanadas, mole taquitos, salmon La Costa, and enchiladas, plus a weekend brunch of huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, and breakfast tacos. Carmona is also a regular presence at the State Fair of Texas, where he serves mole-drenched fries each fall.
Regulars point to consistent food, attentive service, and a strong cocktail and sauce program as the throughline, and the spot carries something of a hidden-gem reputation in the neighborhood.
