Our Take

Cattleack opens for a few hours and sells out most days, which tells you everything about the brisket before you've tasted it. Central Texas standards, done with real discipline: moist brisket with a fat cap that glistens rather than pools, a beef rib thick enough to make the plate look absurd, sausages with real snap. The tangy sauce isn't a crutch — the meat stands on its own — but it's good enough that you use it anyway.

What separates this from a dozen competent smokehouses is that nothing on the plate feels like an afterthought. The cornbread is baked with intent. The street corn gets real garnish instead of a lazy dusting. Sides at most barbecue joints are what you eat while waiting for the meat; here they hold their own against it.

The Bib Gourmand recognition, two years running, confirms what the line at the door already knows. This is smoked meat treated as a full meal worth building a morning around, not a snack you grab on the way somewhere else. Show up early. It closes when the meat runs out, and it runs out for a reason.

The Spot
Cattleack Barbeque has been smoking meats in Farmers Branch since 2013, sourcing Akaushi Wagyu beef from Heartbrand Ranch and Duroc pork, everything cooked low and slow in the Texas tradition.

The menu stays tight: brisket, ribs, pulled pork, house-made sausage, the Toddfather sandwich, and crack cake for dessert. Weekly rotating specials add to the core lineup.

Service runs lunch-only, dine-in or takeout. Cattleack has earned Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition in both the 2024 and 2025 guides, landed on D Magazine's 2025 best-of list, and scored a 9/10 from The Infatuation.
