Edmund's Original began as a neighborhood brewery before evolving into its current form under The Indigo Road Company, taking on a new name to match what it had become while staying planted in NOMO.
The operation is split into two spaces. The Bower is an outdoor courtyard with covered and uncovered seating, fire pits, and garden-style tables, built for casual happy hours and laid-back dinners under the sky. Indoors, the dining room is open for dinner only — intimate lighting, more polish, and a pace meant for longer meals and shared bottles.
The kitchen calls its cooking American tavern fare rooted in the Lowcountry and touched by flavors from elsewhere: layered sauces, bright herbs, and inventive sides meant for sharing or solo eating. Regulars keep coming back for the burger, the meatballs, a PB&J, and a beer list that gets as much attention as the food.
The James Beard Foundation named Edmund's Original a semifinalist for Best New Restaurant in 2015 and a semifinalist for Outstanding Bar Program in 2024.
