The Parish Cafe's concept hasn't changed since opening in November 1992: owner Gordon Wilcox asked some of Boston's notable chefs to each create a sandwich, and the menu still runs on those contributions, with every sandwich named for the chef and restaurant behind it. Options include vegetarian sandwiches alongside the rest.
Among the lineup is a crispy pork cutlet sandwich from Fox & the Knife's chef Karen Akunowicz, built with mozzarella, honeycrisp apple, a Calabrian chili relish, and rosemary focaccia. The bar carries a substantial beer list to go with it.
The space is casual, with a full bar and both indoor and outdoor seating — the outdoor tables spill onto Boylston Street in the warmer months.
