The Spot
Grill 23 & Bar has operated as an independent steakhouse on Berkeley Street in Back Bay since 1983, spread across two floors that include private dining rooms added over the years. The restaurant sources premium natural meat and has used Brandt Beef, a family-owned California ranch, as its primary steak purveyor for more than two decades.

The dinner menu runs from a raw bar stocked with tuna tartare, a mini lobster roll with white sturgeon caviar, and A5 Kagoshima wagyu striploin, through appetizers like French onion soup, Hudson Valley foie gras, and crab cakes with Calabrian chili aioli, to entrées including steak frites made with prime bavette and an oxtail bolognese with tagliatelle. Seafood towers and martinis built around chunked ice are part of the room's regular output.

Ryan Marcoux is the restaurant's Executive Chef, joining Himmel Hospitality Group in 2020. He previously served as Executive Chef at Boston Chops and Chef de Cuisine at Parsnip in Harvard Square, was part of the opening team at Sel de la Terre, and has cooked at the Waterside Inn in Bray, UK.

Grill 23 & Bar's wine program was a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Outstanding Wine Program in both 2018 and 2020.
