Marcus Bar & Grille

Marcus Bar & Grille runs on Southern comfort food that knows how to work a crowd, and the room backs it up. Mustard yellow walls, vinyl from Atlanta artists, roller skates on the wall, a Left Eye pillow behind the bar — the place plays '90s R&B loud enough that you feel it before you taste anything. That energy would be empty if the food didn't deliver, but the family-style platters do the job: fried chicken with crackly skin over a plump waffle, cornbread in a skillet with honey butter melting into it, slow-cooked greens with real depth. These are dishes built to be shared, and they're strong enough to justify the format.

Not everything lands. The Wagyu smashburger is underseasoned, a rare miss in a kitchen that otherwise knows what it's doing. Skip it and stick to the Southern staples, which is most of the menu anyway.

Recognition has followed fast — back-to-back Robb Report Best New Restaurants nods — and it lines up with what the room already tells you. This is a place built for groups, dates, and the chance you'll run into someone you know, with food good enough to make that a bonus rather than the point.
