Oyster House Brewing Company has occupied the corner of Haywood Rd. and Dorchester Ave. in West Asheville since 2009, born from a home brewer's years-long pursuit of a proper oyster stout — a beer made with roasted barley, chocolate malts, and oysters on the half shell. Tres Hundertmark serves as chef and GM, running the kitchen alongside the brewhouse.
The menu pairs a raw bar with Southern seafood cooking: etouffee, a po boy, a catfish sandwich, and fries round out the oysters themselves, all meant to be eaten alongside a beer list that changes regularly.
Regulars describe the room as casual and intimate, pointing to generous portions, fair prices, and consistently good seafood as reasons they keep coming back.
