Neng Jr.'s is the first Filipinx restaurant of its kind in Asheville, housed in a former arcade on Haywood Road with the entrance tucked in the back alley. Chef/Owner Silver Iocovozzi and his husband Cherry Iocovozzi opened the intimate 18-seat dining room and open kitchen in 2022, built around Filipinx traditions and heritage introduced through an integrated style of service.
The menu changes based on availability from the farmers and producers the restaurant works with, balancing consistency with regular change.
Recognition has come quickly. Neng Jr.'s made the Eater 38, The New York Times' Restaurant List in 2023, and was a James Beard Award finalist for Best New Restaurant that same year. In 2025, Silver Iocovozzi returned as a James Beard Best Chef (Southeast) semifinalist, advancing to finalist.
