Supra takes its name from the Georgian word for a communal feast — a table loaded with food and wine, toasts running long into the night. Owner Jonathan Nelms and executive chef Richard Wagner opened it in Shaw as DC's first restaurant centered on the food and wine of the Republic of Georgia.
The dining room mixes wood paneling and wood tables with hanging sheep hats as a nod to regional dress. The wine list runs entirely Georgian, with more than 50 labels pulled from one of the world's oldest winemaking traditions.
Reviewers point to the dumplings, bread, kebab, stuffed eggplant, honey cake, and walnut-heavy dishes on the menu, along with a brunch service and outdoor dining option. Vegetarian dishes get regular mention too.
Supra has landed in the Michelin Guide's Selected tier for Washington DC every year from 2021 through 2025.
