Mio's Grill & Cafe brings Greek and Turkish cooking to Downtown Tampa in a casual, dine-in-or-takeout format. The concept comes from Chef Bora, who spent more than 25 years in the hospitality industry before opening the restaurant, drawing on dishes learned while researching Mediterranean cuisines.
The menu runs through familiar Mediterranean staples: hummus, babaghanouj, and haydari (a Turkish labneh) among the cold appetizers, spinach feta borek and red lentil soup on the hot side, and a Greek salad built with imported feta. Grape leaves are made in-house, and dishes lean on Mediterranean olive oil throughout. Entrees include a beef gyro platter and grilled meatballs made from a ground lamb-and-beef mix, both served with rice pilav.
