Ono Poke traces back to founder Steven Ono, who grew up fishing and diving in Kahaluʻu, Oʻahu, and learned to cut poke from his Uncle Reuben, a commercial fisherman. After relocating to Seattle, Ono opened this spot to recreate the poke he grew up on and give people a place to "talk story" over it. The business now operates in partnership with Shubert Ho, a Seattle chef and restaurateur with Feedme Hospitality & Restaurant Group.
The menu changes daily based on what's sourced that day, and it stays narrow on purpose — Hawaiian-style poke here means the fish is the point, not a base for a build-your-own bowl loaded with sides and extras.
Eater named Ono Poke to its Essential 38 list.
