The Spot
Roaring Fork's Scottsdale location is the original — the restaurant has since expanded to Austin, but this Old Town room keeps the smaller, more intimate footprint of where it started. The cooking here leans rustic: a rotisserie, an open flame grill, and a stone hearth oven do the work, turning out flame-kissed dishes built around live fire.

The menu runs through rainbow trout, tortilla soup, queso, flatbread, filet, salmon, green chile pork, a well-known burger, and pecan pie for dessert, alongside seafood and fries. Short ribs draw particular praise from regulars, though reports on kitchen execution vary — some visits land the food exactly right, others come back overcooked.

The restaurant's kitchen earned a James Beard Foundation Best Chef win in 2001, following three consecutive finalist nods from 1998 through 2000. Service and atmosphere pull steady praise from the Old Town crowd, and the fire-lit happy hour has become one of the more crowded rituals in the room.
