The Spot
La Choza has operated out of a historic adobe building — once the headquarters of the Mercer Ranch — since 1983, serving New Mexican cuisine built on heritage recipes. It's the sister restaurant to The Shed, another long-running Santa Fe spot.

Red and green chile (or Christmas, both together) are the signature offerings here, served over the kind of classic combo plates and enchiladas that have kept regulars coming back for decades. Sopapillas round out the traditional side of the menu, and a full bar handles the margaritas.

The dining room and patio (dog-friendly) lean warm and colorful rather than formal, the kind of come-as-you-are room that fits a neighborhood institution. La Choza earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026, was named a city-magazine favorite by the Santa Fe New Mexican, and was named among the city's best by the Santa Fe Reporter in 2025.
