La Boca has occupied a corner of downtown Santa Fe since 2006, run by chef-owner James Campbell Caruso. The room carries the feel of a European wine bar, built around a list of Spanish wines and an unusually deep sherry selection, from bone-dry Fino to the fig-toned Pedro Ximénez, with staff on hand to walk guests through both.
The kitchen turns out Modern Spanish cuisine inspired by Spain and the Mediterranean, with a menu that changes seasonally to fold in local New Mexican ingredients. Tapas built for sharing anchor the table — patatas bravas, grilled artichoke, paella, and flat iron steak among them.
Behind the main dining room, tucked into a courtyard on Lincoln Avenue, La Boca runs a second space called Taberna, which hosts live music several nights a week.
