Our Take

Rory's Place earns its reputation the hard way: through repeat visits from people who keep coming back. The room reads as a genuine local fixture, the kind of address regulars claim as their own rather than a place they discovered once and moved on from. Service and food both draw consistent praise, and consistency is the rarer compliment — plenty of restaurants can produce one great night, fewer can produce the same great night over and over.

The complaints on record are real and worth naming honestly: waits that run long, service that can turn short with you, checks that land heavier than expected. None of that cancels the larger pattern. A restaurant that gets called a local gem by people who've eaten there repeatedly has done something a single good meal can't fake.

Michelin's guide selected Rory's Place in 2026, and that recognition lines up with what the regulars have been saying for longer. This is a restaurant that delivers on the basics — atmosphere, service, food — reliably enough that the occasional rough night doesn't undo the case. Go in expecting a wait. Go anyway.

The Spot
Rory's Place builds its identity around a raw bar that rotates oysters from named farms — Love Point from Harpswell, Maine, Honey Drops from Duxbury, Massachusetts, and Sweet Waters grown by Hog Island in Tomales Bay — each one described on the menu by growing method and flavor. Seafood towers, aguachile, daily crudo, uni, and a caviar service round out the cold side of the menu.

A wood-fired hearth handles the cooked half of the kitchen: roasted half chicken with escarole and blackberry, a hanger steak finished with charred onion soubise and salsa verde, and pesto pasta rags sit alongside broiled oysters and hearth bread. Salads and snacks — beet and avocado with coconut labneh, chicken liver pâté, marinated olives, tinned fish — fill out a menu built for grazing.

The bar leans on agave spirits, with cocktails built around mezcal and tequila, and a wine list curated by Roni Ginach that draws from both new and old world natural producers.

Rory's Place was selected for the Michelin Guide in the 2026 edition.
