Super Duper Burgers is a counter-service burger spot in Union Square, part of a small chain that started with a single Castro location before expanding across the Bay Area under locally-owned, locally-operated ownership. Co-founder Eddie has described the company's approach as fast food built on slow food values — organic, locally-sourced, humanely raised ingredients, never frozen, prepared fresh daily.
The menu centers on quarter-pound patties made from daily ground, all-natural, vegetarian-fed Brandt Beef, alongside a grilled or fried free-range chicken sandwich, an organic veggie burger, and a seasonal truffle burger finished with Urbani white truffle butter and roasted portobellos. Garlic fries come topped with six-month aged cheddar, and condiments — chipotle aioli, hummus, Super Sauce — are all made in-house. Shakes and cones run on Straus organic soft-serve.
Burgers here are cooked to a consistent medium and stacked high with standard fixings and a drippy coat of Super Sauce. The soft-serve draws its own following — a chocolate-vanilla swirl on a cake cone, ordered alongside a side of fries for dipping, is a familiar combination.
