Iggy's Place sits at the corner of 36th and Balboa in the Richmond District, a short walk from Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach. It's the brick-and-mortar follow-up to Borsch Mobile, the food truck Igor "Iggy" Teplitsky built around his family's Ukrainian roots and the Euro-centric cooking he picked up growing up in Chicago. He now runs the place with his wife, Anna.
The menu pairs well-stuffed sandwiches on Rize Up rolls — a house club with turkey, bacon, and garlic aioli, and a vegetarian version loaded with thick mozzarella — with Eastern European dishes like borscht and Kyiv cake. Meats are house-brined and roasted without nitrates, salad greens and coffee are organic, and breakfast runs all day alongside lunch. Everything is made in-house, and the food travels well for takeout, though indoor tables and parklet seating are available too.
Regulars describe it as a neighborhood fixture, with the owners and staff greeting familiar faces and portions that reward the value.
