The Spot
Anacacho Coffee & Cantina sits inside a historic hotel property on E Travis St in downtown San Antonio, and it operates in two distinct modes. Mornings run on a coffee program built in partnership with local roaster Pulp Coffee, with cortados and cappuccinos pulled on a Mavam espresso machine. By afternoon, the same space shifts into a cocktail bar.

The drink menu leans on the hotel's own history: the Wildflower Aperitif — cognac, bitter cordial, and vermouth — references a visit from Lady Bird Johnson, while the Alamo City Southside, a sparkling cucumber vodka drink, nods to the property's old debutante balls.

Food runs from pastries, egg sandwiches, and yogurt parfaits in the morning to an all-day menu from chef Davila that includes Mexican street-style corn with green goddess and roasted pecans, three variations of bao (pork belly, fried chicken, barbacoa), and a Big Red and barbacoa taco built as a callback to the concept's earlier menu.

The name and look come from the Anacacho Ranch in West Texas, carried through in wood, leather, and terracotta finishes, vintage objects, and a centerpiece 1936 Harry Anthony DeYoung painting. The James Beard Foundation named Anacacho a semifinalist for Best New Restaurant in 2026.
