Farm & Barrel Bistro operates on the grounds of Newport Vineyards, built around the idea that what grows together belongs on the same plate. The kitchen draws ingredients from the property's own farm and greenhouses, shaping a seasonal menu meant to run alongside the estate's own wines, house-made beers, and cocktails. Executive Chef Kyle Johnson, a Rhode Island native with a Master's in Culinary Education from Johnson & Wales, cooked in Boston at Townsman, Shore Leave, and No Relation before taking on this kitchen.
The restaurant splits across two distinct settings. The Taproom, on the main level, is an indoor-outdoor space with a terrace looking out over the vineyard and an interior that shares energy with the on-site brewery. Upstairs, The Overlook offers a more formal room anchored by a stone fireplace and wood-beam ceilings, with windows facing the barrel room, tank room, and surrounding vines. Which room is in use on a given day depends on the property's event calendar, though the menu stays consistent between them.
